There’s nothing like walking into an old school Tiki bar…
Hala Kahiki has been around since 1964 and I’m guessing that things haven’t changed much since then. The bar is totally classic Tiki style with bamboo, thatch, and matting covering every inch of the place. Plus, Hala Kahiki is bigger than it looks!
There’s more to this place than the just the bar. There’s also a gift shop…
The gift shop has Tikis…
Aloha shirts…
And pretty much anything else Polynesian that you’re looking for…
After I took the whole place in, it was time for a drink. I wanted something strong, so this is what they gave me…
It doesn’t have a name, but I can tell you what’s in it: Midori, Stroh, pineapple juice and coconut rum. Yes, this drink was strong, so strong that I thought it would be a good idea to get a Tiki Flight…
On the menu, it reads: “If you’re afraid of commitment then why just pick one?”
I can’t disagree with that logic and I choose five drinks to try…
I have to admit that things became a blur for me while working on those Tiki Flights. The best way to describe the drinks at Hala Kahiki: sweet and strong! Luckily, I had Sara and Bobby sitting next to me at the bar…
They helped me finish those drinks! (I don’t like to waste alcohol.)
Sara and Bobby actually tied the knot at Hala Kahiki back in 2014. Congratulations, you two!
Getting married at a classic Tiki bar is an awesome idea, but you don’t need a special occasion to come out to Hala Kahiki. The vibe is chill, down to earth, and friendly. That’s exactly how I like my Tiki experience!
Here is the Hala Kahiki website.
And Facebook page.
