Q: What does Jacques Cousteau and Ashley Morgan have in common?
A: They both love the sea AND Ashley Morgan created a mug in honor of Jacques called Jacques Tu’Slo which is a skull! Ashley’s style blends pirate, the sea, tiki and a little bit of creepy for good measure! Sleepy Siren Treasure Co. is located up here in the Pacific Northwest in Tacoma and I’m excited to see what she comes up with next! Here is Ashley’s story…
Tracy Helber has only been selling mugs since the beginning of 2020 and I think the future is looking bright for THtikis. There are some amazing mugs out there being made, although these mugs look especially amazing, sometimes you really have to ask yourself, how do I actually drink out of this!?! Mugs from THtikis are made to do what you’re supposed to do with a tiki mug … Drink out of it! And the mugs have a really cool style that is truly unique.
Danielle Mann is a tiki mug maker from Brisbane Australia and her work is truly incredible!
The name of her company is Black Lagoon Designs and she pulls influences from old school tiki bars, mid-century and the female form.
Her plan for the future is world domination! I think it’s safe to say that she already conquered the tiki scene in Australia. Watch out USA, you’re next!
Sometimes the Tiki can’t be contained to just one room. For some people Tiki is truly a lifestyle; the lines between Tiki escapism and real life are forever blurred. Wendy and Dan Cevola’s entire home is Tiki themed. They may have the biggest Tiki collection in the world and there’s even a jungle room! Let’s take a peek into Wendy and Dan’s home or should I say Tiki home…
I read about Wendy in the Winter 2015/16 edition of Tiki Magazine and More and she seemed so cool…
She makes Tiki mugs out of her home. Wendy lives in Elk Grove, CA, which is located on the outskirts of Sacramento. I’m not the only one who’s interested in Wendy. The Elk Grove Citizen newspaper ran not one, but two stories on Wendy! She mailed me a newspaper clipping…
Luckily, the article is online and it gives a great overview on Wendy and her art.
Here is another article on Wendy from the Elk Grove Citizen. This is from March 2011 and gives a great overview of Wendy and her interest in making Tiki mugs.
As I’m writing this post, ABC 10 is going to Wendy’s place to do a news story on her! Here is the video! I see big things happening for this talented lady. Here are some questions I wanted to ask Wendy before she gets too famous!
I have a guilty pleasure: I love before and after photos! I love seeing people lose weight and get in shape. I love seeing a vintage car get restored or a home get remodeled. What’s better than all of these is seeing before and after photos of a home Tiki bar. Debba Debba and Paul actually have a picture of their basement before it was converted into the Green Bamboo Lounge.
