The Home Tiki Bar Tour, this is what we’ve all been waiting for …
What makes Tiki Kon special is the Home Tiki Bar Tour. How cool is this? A bus picks you up at your hotel and proceeds to drive you from one home tiki bar to another. At each stop, you get a tiki drink, and you can drink on the bus! Can things get a little crazy? I think you know the answer to that! The school bus picked up its crew and headed north …
First stop on the tour, The Vancouver Lanai …
Vancouver is right above Portland and is actually in the state of Washington. This place is incredible, but time goes by fast and it was time to get back on the bus and head down to Portland.
Second Stop, Ohana Gardens …
It was a long hot ride down from Vancouver to SE Portland, but it was so worth it! After sipping a drink and cooling off in the pool, it was time to get back on the bus.
Third Stop, Rika Tiki Reef …
Ok, I’m not going to lie. It was hot and getting hotter! Luckily the Rika Tiki Reef was downstairs in a basement with AC! Oh, it felt so good!
Fourth and final Stop, The Lowbrow Lanai …
Marci and Austin’s place is a mid-century modern time capsule! I’ve been to the Lowbrow Lanai before and it’s always great to come back.
Sunday is always bittersweet. It’s awesome to spend an entire weekend with all these great people, and tiki people are the best, making it tough to say goodbye! You are my friends and my Ohana!
Tiki Kon is more than a tiki convention. It’s a homecoming. See you all next year!
I’d like to thank Sveinn Kjartansson for all the pictures used for this post.
