The early bird gets the worm, or should I say, the early bird gets the tiki?
The doors to the Island Market Place didn’t open until 10:00 AM, but the line to get in started forming way before that!
Once the doors opened, the line of people quickly made their way inside. I could tell these tikiphiles were on a mission because they all split off into different directions, not running, but doing that walk fast kind of thing.
I understood why though. There were many tiki artists that traveled near and far to sell their creations, like Tiki Tony, who flew all the way up from sunny California …
If you were looking for something specific, there was a good chance that you would find it here …
Meanwhile, out by the pool … a very colorful group of people started to congregate …
This was the Bananas For Cabanas/Crazy For Caftans Meetup and I have to say that I’ve never seen this much color before in my life!
Before anyone could strut their stuff, MeduSirena needed to be “delivered” to the pool …
Once MeduSirena was in her natural habitat, things got started …
Women in caftans and men in cabana set outfits paraded around the pool. This tiki parade was not to be missed!
What could top a large parade of men and women dressed in cabana boy outfits and caftans? A penguin in an aloha shirt?
